OpenText Talent Support

ROLE: STORYBOARD ARTIST, VIDEOGRAPHER, EDITOR AND LEAD MOTION DESIGNER

This project was requested by our Talent Acquisition department in Human Resources, with the goal of answering questions, and outlining the various benefits and support groups available at the company for new hires to get acclimated and be aware of various ways they can receive the help they need when they need it. My role on this project was perhaps one of my most diverse with OpenText, taking on the role of storyboard artist, videographer (at least some of the in-office footage used was filmed by myself) editor, and lead motion designer.

Due to the goals for this project outlined by their department, I took that as a focal point to map out the script and story we wanted to tell with this project as I worked alongside our script writer to get the messaging just right. We wanted to seem like a very large, capable company, with all the resources available to provide employees with support when needed but to be careful to keep the tone warm and human - our focus here was on the people first.

So with OpenText's branding and a people-first focus on the storyboards, we used lots of in-office filmed footage from various OpenText locations worldwide to showcase our real employees, in order to help ground the video even further; stock footage runs the risk of feeling inauthentic, and I wanted to avoid that as much as possible, given the message I was tasked with delivering here. I believe this approach really helped our new hires feel more welcome by hopefully being easier to connect with real people instead of paid actors on a screen.
